Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino: a grass climber of the genus Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino. Stems slender, branched, with longitudinal ribs and grooves, glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Leaves membranous or papery, bird-footed, with 3-9 leaflets, usually 5-7; Leaf blade ovate-oblong or lanceolate, central leaflets 3-12 cm long and 1.5-4 cm wide.
