Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin formulated as C19H19N7O6. Because green leaves contain very rich glutamic acid, so named, also known as malonylglutamic acid. 

Folic acid contains one or more glutamyl groups. Most naturally occurring folic acid is polyglutamic acid. Folic acid is yellow, crystalline and slightly soluble in water, but its sodium salts are soluble in water. Insoluble in ethanol. Easy to destroy in acidic solution, unstable under heat, easy to disperse under normal temperature, easy to destroy in light.
